Abdullah
Al Daboos has led the transformation of Emirates
Post into a dynamic and diversified commercial corporation,
since 1999. He launched a series of moves that have
seen Emirates Post achieve new targets and establish
alliances with major global players.
Mr. Al Daboos
began his career with a short stint with Zadco,
a petroleum company in Abu Dhabi, before joining
Emirates airline. As UAE manager of Emirates airline,
Mr. Al Daboos helped raise the reputation of the
airline locally and at the international level.
During his ten-year tenure, Mr. Daboos helped forge
unity among the different air operators, and was
head of the local airlines association as well as
the GCC airlines association. In 1999, Mr. Al Daboos
joined Emirates Post as Director General and led
its transformation into a commercially driven postal
corporation.
Under Mr. Al Daboos’ leadership, Emirates
Post embarked on an ambitious expansion and diversification
plan and created ventures like Dubai Airport Mail
Transit Hub, Electronic Document Centre, the Postcard
Millionaire, Emirates Marketing & Promotions,
Training & Development Centre, redevelopment
of post office buildings with commercial sections,
introduction of non-postal services at post office,
including retail products.
In an effort to
raise Emirates Post’s profile globally, Mr.
Al Daboos made a strong bid for hosting the 2008
UPU Congress and later bagged the UPU Strategy Conference
2006 which will be held in Dubai in November. He
has crafted an expansion plan that will see Emirates
Post venturing into financial services, logistics
and cargo.
