Mahboob Mahmood

Mahboob
is Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship and Family
Enterprise at INSEAD and has a particular focus
on Social Entrepreneurship. He has written a number
of case studies on Asian businesses in the education
and training, food services, high tech manufacturing,
hospitality, information technology and transportation
sectors.
Mahboob is also
the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Knowledge
Platform. Established in 2000, Knowledge Platform
is a leading knowledge solutions company with offices
in Singapore, Tokyo, Delhi and Islamabad. The company
provides market intelligence research and e-learning
solutions for blue chip clients in the corporate,
educational, financial services and governmental
sectors. In addition to leading the Knowledge Platform
team, Mahboob plays a central role in the company’s
work in designing compliance and risk management
training solutions for the financial services industry.
Prior to establishing
Knowledge Platform, Mahboob was a partner at the
international law firm of Sidley Austin Brown &
Wood. Mahboob spent 11 years handling corporate
transactions in the firm’s New York office,
before establishing the firm's Singapore office
in 1997 and managing it through its successful start-up
period. Mahboob has broad industry experience and
has been lead counsel for many complex transactions
in the high-tech, financial services, media, utilities
and transportation sectors. He has worked with major
clients in implementing mergers and acquisitions,
restructurings, corporate and project financings
in the United States and many countries of Asia
and has handled a number of privatization assignments
for The World Bank.
Mahboob received
a J.D. from Columbia University School of Law in
1986, a Diploma in International and Comparative
Law from Columbia University School of Law in 1986,
a M.A. in Political Science from The Johns Hopkins
University in 1987, and a B.A. in Politics from
Princeton University in 1981. He was admitted to
the New York State bar in 1987. He has spoken and
presented papers on acquisitions and restructurings,
compliance, education and training, effective negotiation,
privatization and structured finance at numerous
international seminars and conferences.
Together with
his wife Samia Ahad, Mahboob is also a Founder and
Director of Coriander Leaf, an innovative Singapore-based
foods business which includes a restaurant and cooking
school.
